Dale Alfred Davy was born December 22, 1942, in Roseau, MN to William and Dorothy (Roe) Davy. As a child, his family lived at various towns in Minnesota and Montana. During his teen years living in Montana, he worked on the Lloyd and Fern Wolery Ranch. Dale Graduated from Roseau, MN high school.
In November of 1960, he enlisted in the US Navy and served through December 1963. His boot camp training was in San Diego, CA and his Engineman Class A school at the Great Lakes training facility. Dale was stationed in a variety of ports, including Trinidad, Balboa, Cuba, Chile and Acapulco. He served on Project Mercury and really enjoyed crossing the equator.
After leaving the Navy, he relocated to Minot, ND working as an engine mechanic for Kresbach International. It was during this time that he met Virginia Bohl at a Halloween dance at the 52 Club, just outside of Minot. They were married December 27, 1968. The couple celebrated 55 years together this past December.
Dale and Virginia made their home in Minot for a time then relocated to Burlington, ND where they raised their family. After leaving Kresbach, he went to work for Midland Diesel, working at both their Minot and Dickinson, ND locations. From there he went to work for Behms Propane, this company eventually sold to Ferrell Gas. He had a lengthy career in weights and measures traveling to many of their locations throughout the United States.
Dale retired from Ferrell Gas and he and Virginia moved to Williston, ND (2000) and Valley City, ND (2005). In 2021 they settled in Moorhead, MN to be closer to family due to his declining health.
He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He collected coins. Dale loved a good cup of coffee and the conversation that went with it.
Spending time with his family was where he found the greatest joy. Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia; sons, Kelly (Kim) Bohl of Thief River Falls MN, Randy (Betty) Davy of Moorhead, MN, Ryan (Michelle) Davy of DesLacs, ND, and Jason (Sarah) Davy of West Fargo, ND, and daughter, Kim (Mark Hamilton) Johnson of Elgin, IL. His grandchildren, Lauren (Joe Jay) Hahn, Louis Bohl, Jacob Bohl, Molly Bohl, Emily (Matthew) Morse, Samuel (Ashley) Davy, Hannah (Will Barker) Davy, Isabelle (Gentry Middendorf) Davy, Levi Davy, Olivia Davy, Matthew (Lexi) Davy, Alex (MacKenzie Leonard) Davy, Thomas Davy, Danielle Davy, Kaitlyn (Brock) Anderson, Kristieanna Davy, Tylor (Morgan Metallo) Domsten, Ethan (Katie) Domsten, Megan Johnson also survive as well as great grandchildren, Kayden, Grayson, Willoughby, Theodin, Tallulah, Ryan, Vera, Emmett, Colson, Arya, Ezra, Marley, Amaya. He leaves his sisters, Sandy (Jerry) Transtrom of Watford City, ND and Marie (Randy Brown) Davy of Deer Lodge, MT; brothers, James (Yvonne) Davy of Murietta, CA, Bill Davy of Watford City, ND and Leonard (Wendy) Davy of Peoria, AZ; sisters-in-law, Marie Gefroh Sveum of Minot, ND, Stella Schiele of Rapid City, SD, Yvone (Bill) Strauss of Green Bay, WI, Martha Fennewald of Wichita, KS, and Ramona (Gary) Schmitz of Harvey, ND; brother-in-law, Mark Schitz of Fessenden, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marilynn and brother, Arvid.
Dale Davy, 81, passed away at SMP Health St. Catherine South in Fargo, ND on February 1, 2024. Visitation will be at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church, Fargo beginning at 2PM, Wednesday, February 7 with a prayer service there at 3PM. The funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 9:30 AM. He will be laid to rest in the Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
