UJ – The Jimmies took the lead right away to start the half. The Chargers caught them a few times, but the Jimmies kept pulling away. 

Their largest leads came with eight minutes to play (25-17) and with five minutes to play (30-22), forcing a Charger timeout. Silas Bennion and Will Cordes hit back-to-back jumpers to catch a double figure lead right out of the timeout. 

After that, the Chargers held the Jimmies to six points and scored eleven themselves to end the half behind 33-40. 

The Chargers gave the Jimmies a fight getting within one point (44-45) four minutes into the second half. 

Soon after, they caught the Jimmies by one point, but the Jimmies took their lead back with points from Antonio ChandlerJimmy Llinas, and Silas Bennion

The Jimmie defense kept the Chargers from getting ahead again and pulled away by double figures (68-58) with 7:42 left. 

The Jimmies put up 21 more points and the Chargers 16, securing the Jimmies with the home win, 89-74.  

FOR THE JIMMIES

  • Five players scored in double figures: Jimmy Llinas (17), Colby Vazquez (17), Silas Bennion (16), Will Cordes (16), and Antonio Chandler (11). 
  • Bennion passed out seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.
  • Jimmy Llinas grabbed eight rebounds and Chandler had seven. 
  • The Jimmies only had five turnovers and forced 13 on the Chargers.
  • The Jimmies outrebounded the Chargers 32-26. 

FOR THE CHARGERS

  • Jamison Helmers had 21 points. 
  • Blake Sindelar had six rebounds.
