Wade Lee Trapp was born December 23, 1966, in Fargo, ND to Ronald and Joan (Berg) Trapp. He grew up in Marion, ND, graduating from Marion High School in 1985.
Growing up, he loved to spend many hours riding horses with his brother, Shane, his friends and his Dad. He rode in youth rodeos, graduating to bull riding in high school rodeo. Wade placed in the ND State Finals 4 years and qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals twice. He continued to ride in amateur rodeos throughout the state for several years.
He enjoyed camping and horseback riding with his sons at Medora, the Sandhills, and Ft. Ransom. He also liked hunting and fishing.
When he wasn’t on horseback he worked across the country as a pipe insulator and for several years as a certified farrier.
Wade was the father of Hunter Wade Trapp of Willow City, ND and Spencer Thomas Bjornson Trapp of Piqua, OH.
Wade passed away at the Jamestown Regional Medical Center on March 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Trapp and grandparents, Lyle and Vivian Trapp and Leonard and Julia Berg.
He is survived by his sons, Hunter and Spencer; his mother, Joan Trapp of Marion; brothers, Shane (Yvonne) Trapp of Taylorsville, KY and Cody (Lisa) Trapp of Litchfield, MN; sister, Sasha Trapp of Fargo; niece, MaKayla Trapp; nephews, Conner, Brodie and Braeden Trapp; several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
A celebration of Wade’s life will be held Monday, March 11, 2024, in the Lerud Mathias Funeral Home Chapel, Valley City, ND at 7:00 PM. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-7 on Monday evening. The memorial service will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 12 at Marion Methodist Church, Marion. The services will be live streamed, then archived, on a link provided along with his obituary on his tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com. An online guestbook is available there as well.
