UJ – University of Jamestown Director of Athletics Austin Hieb has announced Hannah Griffin as the new Jimmie women’s hockey head coach.

“Hannah was at the top of our list from the time we began looking for our next head coach,” said Hieb. “She brings years of experience at top level programs in the ACHA, both as an assistant and as a head coach. We think Hannah is the perfect fit to help our young program continue to take the next steps.”

Griffin was the head coach at Adrian College from 2019-2022 after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant at Adrian. During her time with the Bulldogs, Griffin was a part of four consecutive CCWHA conference championships. She played for Adrian in the 2009-2012 seasons at the NCAA DIII level and was the inaugural captain of the ACHA Division 1 team in 2012-2013.

In 2023-24, Griffin was an assistant coach at ACHA Division 1 Midland (Neb.) University, helping the Warriors to a 29-1-2 record.

“The University of Jamestown has been unbelievably welcoming,” Griffin said. “The campus has a special feel to it, they really care about their students. All of the right tools and support are in place for the women’s hockey program to be successful. I want to thank the Athletic Director, Austin, and other staff members for their support. I am very eager and excited to get started!”

Griffin takes over for Amber Schaack, who guided the Jimmies for the previous three seasons. Schaack posted a record of 23-37 at Jamestown, with a final ACHA ranking of 11th in 2022-23 and 12th in 2023-24.
