Sioux City, Iowa – The University of Jamestown baseball team finished their three-day, six-game road trip on Monday afternoon with a doubleheader against Briar Cliff University. The Chargers came away with a pair of wins, defeating the Jimmies 7-4 and 11-1 at Bishop Mueller Field.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

Jamestown trailed 5-2 going into the top of the sixth, but cut the deficit to one after Jett Nelson homered to left with one out.

A Jimmie error in the bottom of the seventh allowed two BCU runs to score, and UJ once again trailed by three going into their last at bat.

Hayden Brown‘s two-out homer in the second gave Jamestown a 2-0 lead. The Chargers plated three runs in the bottom half and added single runs in the third and fifth.

Nelson finished 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in a pair.

Jack Howard (4-4) gave up five runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking three. 

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

The Jimmies found themselves in an early hole after Briar Cliff scored seven times in the bottom of the first.

BCU made it an 11-0 game with four more in the fourth.

Isaiah Roebuck got the Jimmies on the board with an RBI single in the top of the fifth.

Riki Okamoto was 2-for-3 and Jett Nelson also found his way into the hit column.
