NDHP – On April 19th at 12:25pm a 2010 GMC Sierra, driven by Dale Olson 81yrs old, was traveling northbound on Highway 14. An 1998 Chevrolet Pickup was parked on the northbound shoulder slightly in the roadway. Construction Flagger, James Wipf, was standing outside the driver side door of The 1998 Chevrolet Pickup using a sign to slow down vehicles traveling southbound. There was a semi-truck traveling northbound stopping intermittently to drop off hay wattles to prevent soil erosion for an upcoming construction project to take place on Highway 14 the following week. The 2010 GMC Sierra had passed the semi slowly without incident. Olson did not see the 1998 Chevrolet Pickup that was further north of the semi with Wipf standing outside it with its amber lights on. Olson struck the back of 1998 Chevrolet Pickup pushing it into Wipf. Wipf was pushed into the southbound lanes and Olson ended up in the east ditch. Wipf was transported to Sanford Hospital in Bismarck with serious injuries. Crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
