NDHP – On June 24 at 2:52 pm Hailey Kindem, 25 YOA, was traveling southbound on I-29 in a Chevrolet Impala in lane three. Kindem observed a cat jump out the back of a pickup in front her, and the cat ran into the west ditch. Kindem stopped her vehicle in the middle lane three and exited the vehicle, running after the cat in the west ditch.
Shortly after Kindem stopped and exited her vehicle, Keely Olson, 21 YOA, approached in lane three in her Buick Lacrosse and rear ended the Chevrolet. Olson was unrestrained, but her air bags deployed.
Olson remained in the vehicle during the crash and was transported by Sanford Ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Fargo for non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles became disabled in lane three of southbound I-29 after the crash. The truck that the cat jumped out of did not stop. The cat was not located.
Kindem was cited on scene for misdemeanor aggravated reckless driving. She also received a citation for driving without a license.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
