Jarvis James Wiest, 39, of Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away of natural causes, at his home Monday afternoon, July 15, 2024. Jarvis was born in Jamestown, North Dakota on December 27, 1984 to James and Roxanne (Schaffer) Wiest. Jarvis was a 2003 graduate from Jamestown High School. Jarvis loved sports and played many different sports throughout his youth and high school years, with his favorite being hockey. He spent his summers traveling the US and Canada to play. Jarvis was the starting goaltender for the Blue Jays from his freshman year through his senior year. In 2007, Jarvis had an accident that resulted in him being paralyzed from the waist down. Even after his accident, Jarvis found a way to do the thing he loved and joined a sled hockey team with Hope, Inc.
Jarvis is survived by his parents; sisters, Danielle (Trent) Hillerud and Tressa (Kyle) Splonskowski; six nephews and nieces; three step-nieces and nephews; one great step-niece; and grandmothers, Laurie Hamm and Sharon Hesch.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leroy Wiest and Marvin Schaffer; step-grandfathers, James Hamm and Larry Hesch; and uncles, Scott Schaffer and Darrell Wiest.
Family will receive guests from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown. Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial Service – 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Rev. James Naumann officiating.
Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
