Loren Howard Schulz, 92, of Edgeley ND, peacefully left us for his eternal resting place on Sunday July, 28, 2024. Loren was born on August 16, 1931 to August and Bertha (Flatau) Schulz near Edgeley, ND.
He married Loretta Gwen Meidinger on October 15, 1954. They lived on the family farm near Edgeley until 1960, when they moved to the Buchanan, ND area to share crop until 1968. They then returned to Edgeley to again run the family farm.
Loren spent his entire life farming, even up until swathing the first crop of alfalfa in 2024. His life revolved around farming, his wife and his family. He took great pride in farming and of his greatest joys was seeing the third generation managing the family farm.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed one. Loren served on many boards during his lifetime (Edgeley Credit Union Credit Committee, Lamoure County Weed Board, Farm Service Agency (FSA) Advisory Committee).
The hard work of farming was the primary focus for Loren and Loretta throughout his life but they always took time to enjoy family and friends. Early in their lives together, they owned a bowling alley and a roller rink. In later years, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching them in sporting events. He loved playing cards, especially pinochle, and viewing the wonders of the world through the eyes of a farmer.
Loren was a Graduate of Edgeley High School (1949) and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Edgeley.
Loren is survived by his wife of 69 years, Loretta; two sisters: Bernette Sandau and Marlene Carow; children: Loren A. (Sheila) Schulz, Deborah (Jeff) Nitschke, Daniel (Michelle) Schulz, Tanya Schulz; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
