Valley City State University athletics has announced staffing changes in its
sports information department for the upcoming year.
Athletic director Dennis McCulloch announced today that Kari Bodine
has been promoted to VCSU’s director for sports information, and Collin Hoss
has been hired as VCSU’s head golf coach and assistant sports information
director.
“We’re excited to have both Kari and Collin on staff for the
coming year,” said McCulloch. “Kari has been a valued member of the
sports information department for several years and is ready to move into this
bigger role with our department. We’re pleased to welcome Collin back to VCSU
as well. I’m excited about the skills he is bringing in to the assistant SID
role and have him lead our golf program that he already knows well.”
Bodine has worked at VCSU since 2013 and spent the last five seasons as the assistant
sports information director. She is just the second sports information director
in VCSU history, succeeding Mark Potts who recently accepted a position as
director for public relations for VCSU’s general campus.
Bodine holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management from the University of
Minnesota Crookston and master’s degree in higher education from North Dakota
State University.
Valley City native and VCSU graduate Collin Hoss will return to VCSU as head
golf coach and assistant sports information director. Hoss has spent the last
four years as a digital marketing specialist at FEI, Inc. in Valley City. He
has also served two summers as a golf instructor with Valley City Parks and
Recreation.
Hoss was a member of the Viking men’s golf team from 2016-2020 and earned 1st Team
All-Conference after placing 5th at the NSAA Championship
tournament in 2019. He was also an NSAA Champion of Character and NAIA
Scholar-Athlete during his time as a student. Hoss graduated from VCSU in 2020
with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in marketing.
