Jamestown – Ryan Muizelaar hit a three-run home run and Ryan Radkey struck out seven batters over 5 1/3 innings as the University of Jamestown baseball team defeated Mayville State (N.D.) University 12-2 Wednesday afternoon at Jack Brown Stadium.

The Comets scored a single run in the top of the first, which the Jimmies answered in the bottom half. Trever Goforth drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Alex Alva with the tying run.
Jamestown broke the game open in the bottom of the second on Jordan Singleton‘s two-run double and Muizelaar’s three-run homer to right center field. All five Jimmie runs in the inning were unearned.
Mayville State added a run in the top of the fourth, cutting Jamestown’s lead to 6-2, but the Jimmies weren’t done at the plate. Pinch-hitter Will Bachman doubled down the left field line to score Alva and Singleton, and one out later, Ben Swennumson singled in Goforth and Muizelaar for a 10-2 advantage.
UJ plated two more runs in the fifth, with the 12th and final run coming on a steal of home by Dallas Cummins.
Radkey (1-0) worked into the sixth inning, allowing two runs on five hits and did not walk a batter. Ryan Wike pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
Singleton (2-for-2) and Muizelaar (2-for-3) combined for four of Jamestown’s eight hits.
For Dickenson Chris Shopbell went 2-for-2 and scored a run.
