NDHP – On September 22 at 3:30pm a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Wanda Schlichenmayer, was traveling west on ND41 as it approached US83. The Malibu did not stop at the stop sign, attempting to
cross US83’s northbound lane. A 2012 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Gaige Allard, was traveling north on US83 in the right lane at the time. Mr. Allard observed the Malibu approaching the intersection, so he changed lanes trying to avoid a collision. The vehicles collided in the northbound lane. Both vehicles came to rest in the median. The grass in the median caught fire. The Silverado was able to be driven away from the grass fire. The fire was extinguished right away by the Wilton fire department.

Ms. Schlichenmayer was extricated to safety and was transported by ambulance to Sanford
Medical Center in Bismarck where she was pronounced deceased.

Mr. Allard and the passenger, Karli Fox, sustained minor injuries. Mr. Allard was arrested for
an outstanding arrest warrant.

This crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
