Heather Dawn Peterson, the daughter of Mike and Susan (Nannenga) Peterson, was born February 24, 1974 in Ellendale, ND. Heather grew up in Valley City where she attended school and graduated from Valley City High School in 1992. On May 20, 1995 she married Darwin Aberle in LaMoure, ND and together they were blessed with two children. Heather lived her life at full throttle. Her love of racing was no secrete; she was her son Hayden’s biggest fan, cheering him on from the stands with pride and joy. Having a daughter was having a built-in best friend. When Tyla called for an adventure, Heather was always all in. Her heart was with her family, and her grandkids were the light of her life. She filled their days with laughter and adventure. Heather loved taking them on trips to the zoo, dancing in the kitchen, “farming” in the backyards or just sitting down for an afternoon of movies and snuggles. Every moment with them was treasured, and she showered them with endless love, making sure they always knew how much they meant to her.
Those who knew Heather felt her genuine warmth and knew they had a friend for life. She had a special way of making everyone feel seen and loved, and her generous spirit left and impact on all who crossed her path. Whether she was with friends, at work or surrounded by family she embraced each moment with energy and passion.
Heather leaves behind her children, Tyla (Jade) Huether and Hayden (Brittany) Aberle, who will carry on her love and strength; her cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Hadley, Dax and Dutton Huether and Brexten Aberle, who were the center of her world; her mother, Susan (Randy Compson) Peterson; her sister, Heidi (Tyler) Zimmerman and their daughters Kelci (Mike) Haugen and Rya Zimmerman; her special friend, Cole Mooridian; numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins; all of her friends that meant so much to her.
Heather was preceded in death by her father, Mike Peterson; her grandparents, Addy and Lloyd Peterson and Fred Nannenga; a cousin Frederick “Freddy.”
Though she left this world too soon, Heather’s spirit will live on in the love she gave so freely, the memories she created and the hearts she touched. Her light will never dim.
