JAMESTOWN, N.D.—The University of Jamestown women’s hockey team saw its offense come alive Sunday afternoon, as the Jimmies had eight different players score in an 8-1 win over University of Arizona at John L. Wilson Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jimmies scored on the power play, shorthanded, and at even strength in the first period to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Chloe Gauthier got things started with a power play goal at 6:31 of the first, assisted by Gaby Schroder and Alivia Frykman.
  • At the 9:53 mark of the first, Schroder made it a 2-0 game with a shorthanded goal assisted by Bethany Wielgosh.
  • Sam Beaulac added a third goal for UJ with 1:52 left in the period. Promise Belanger was credited with the assist.
  • Jamestown put four more goals on the board in the second period. The first came on an unassisted goal by Rylee Gee at 4:43. Forty-seconds later, Kelsey Amick made it 5-0 from Frykman and Maddie Andrew.
  • Andrew got her first collegiate goal at 13:21 on Belanger’s second assist of the game, and Frykman notched her first UJ score at 18:12 from Wielgosh and Schroder.
  • Kiran Vugteveen pushed the Jimmies’ lead to 8-0 56 seconds into the final period on an assist from Ashton Lee.
  • The Wildcats got on the board with a minute left on an unassisted goal by Grace McKeag.
  • Shots ended 48-26 in favor of Jamestown. Lilah Drew had 25 saves for UJ. Lauryn Hanafin stopped 22 of 28 shots before Olivia Sorlie came on with 6:39 remaining in the second. Sorlie finished with 18 saves.
  • Jamestown’s eight goals were two away from tying the single-game record of 10 set on November 6, 2022 in a 10-3 win at Colorado State.
