Jamestown, ND – Local Police and Ambulance were dispatched to the 100 block of Bus Loop W for a 911 call of a juvenile bicyclist struck by a vehicle, Oct 8, at 0722 hrs.
Upon arrival, an injured 15-year-old juvenile bicyclist was coherent and provided initial medical aid. The juvenile was then transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment of serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
An initial investigation into the accident has revealed the bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the outside westbound lane of travel. At the same time, a 2014 GMC SUV was traveling westbound in the outside westbound lane of travel.
The driver of the GMC SUV was identified as 66-year-old Kevin Hollaar of Jamestown. Hollaar reported it was (morning) twilight at the time of the accident and he did not see the bicyclist until just before impact. The bicyclist was thrown from the bike and onto the boulevard.
The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
