Elvera A. Divers, 99, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Monday morning, October 14, 2024 at Eventide, Jamestown.
Elvera was born August 22, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Anna Wendt. She was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, ND. Elvera grew up on a farm south of Grand Rapids, attending school in Grand Rapids and graduating in 1943. In the fall of 1943, she enrolled in nurse training at Trinity Hospital, Jamestown. After graduating in 1946 as an RN, Elvera spent 30 years as a surgical nurse at Jamestown Hospital and three years as a night nurse at the North Dakota State Hospital. Elvera met Glen Divers on a blind date. They married on June 7, 1949 at the United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown.
She retired at the age of 80 and continued to enjoy family fishing trips, playing pinochle and bingo, and going to family events with niece, Ruth Nathan.
Elvera is survived by her great-granddaughter, Shayne and her family, Heidi, Mike, and Kori Lindberg-Mickelson; son, Dennis, all of Jamestown; and nieces and nephews.
She was the last of seven siblings and preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Tom and daughter-in-law, Terrie; and granddaughter, Jessica.
Her family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Eventide and JRMC Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
Memorial Service – 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2024 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with Pastor Bob Boyar officiating.
Interment – Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
