VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Valley City State men’s basketball tallied 117 points in their second game of the season to start the year 2-0. The Vikings scoring 117 is the sixth highest scoring performance the team has ever recorded, the fifth highest being yesterday’s game of 121.
 

VCSU once again had lots of contribution up and down the line up with six players recording double figures. With their 117-62 point win the Vikings improve to 2-0 on the season, and Brandon University falls to 0-4 on the year.
 
Valley City State got off to a hot start in the first ten minutes building a 30-11 lead. Their lead was largely built from a 14-0 scoring run that opened the gap from 12-8 to 26-8. Shooting 12/19 and 3/6 from the three-point line the Vikings were efficient on both ends of the floor. Ten minutes into the game the Vikings already created five turnovers. By half time the Vikings already tallied 63 points led by Lamar GraysonJayden Patcha, and Genesis Kemp already scoring in the double figures.
 
The second half was much of the same for the Vikings. Staying aggressive on both ends of the court, they went on another run. Scoring 28 unanswered, the Vikings grew the lead from 77-50 to 105-50. During that run the Vikings force nine BU turnovers. Finishing strong down the stretch the game came to an end with a score of 117-62.
 
Lamar Grayson led the team in scoring tallying 21 points. He was followed by LaDarious Stanfield who recorded a career high as a Viking with 19 points. Stanfield was an impressive 9-10 from the field today including 1-1 from the three-point line. Ousseynou Ngom dominated the glass with seven rebounds. Lamar Grayson also dished out seven assists. Shaheed Muhammad locked down on defense recording 5 steals.
 
The Bobcats we led by Darko Karac who tallied 22 points. He was followed by Dewayne Thompson with 16 points. Jakarri Lindsey recorded six rebounds.
 
As a team the Vikings were 55 percent from the field, 79 percent from the free throw line, recorded 47 total rebounds, and 8 turnovers. The Bobcats were 34 percent from the field, 57 percent from the free throw line, recorded 35 rebounds, and 24 turnovers.
