Butte, Mont. – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team played the number nine Montana Tech Diggers in Montana on Saturday evening. The Jimmies first-half deficit proved to be too much to overcome as they fell 67-84 to the Diggers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Jimmies showed a promising first eight minutes, quickly gaining a 14-6 lead. The Jimmies lead was short-lived as their shots struggled to fall against the Digger defense, and they were outscored 33-8 for the remainder of the half.

Anthony Walters had nine points for the Jimmies in the first half.

The Jimmies more than doubled their points in the second half and played an even-scoring game with the Diggers, as each team put up 45 points. The Jimmies also improved from nine rebounds to 15.

Despite their competitive second half, the Jimmies could not compensate for their 17-point deficit from the first.

Walters put up 13 more points for a 22-point game total. Owen Hektner joined him in double digits with 12 points. Hektner also led rebounding with six.

The Jimmies hit 10 from behind the arc, with Walters and Hektner each hitting three, for 40%.
