Jamestown – On November 11, at 5:54 pm, officers of the Jamestown Police Department were dispatched to Leapaldt Park in the 1500 block of 9th Ave NE in Jamestown. Victims report that an intoxicated adult Native American male, wearing dark colored baggy clothing, approached and confronted two adult males and two juveniles. The suspect told the four victims to leave the park then fired at least two rounds from a handgun in the general direction of the victims before fleeing the scene in a southeasterly direction.
Officers responded to the park within three minutes but were unable to immediately locate
anyone matching the description. A perimeter was set up in the area while officers searched
door to door and spoke with area residents. Investigators collected two 9-millimeter shell
casings and a black pullover hoodie from the scene.
No one was injured and the suspect is still at large. If anyone has information regarding this
incident, please contact the Jamestown Police Department at 701-252-2414.
The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Stutsman
County Sheriff’s Office and North Dakota Probation and Parole.
