VCSU – The Valley City State basketball teams are on the road Dec. 14-15 to kick off conference play for the 2024-25 season.

VCSU plays at Bellevue University on Saturday afternoon and then travels to take on Dakota State on Sunday. The women will tip at 3 p.m. followed by the men at 5 p.m. for each of the conference doubleheaders. Live coverage will be available for all games.

The Viking women are 8-4 heading into the conference season while Bellevue is 6-3 overall. Dakota State is currently ranked No. 6 in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll and posts a 5-3 record on the season.

VCSU’s women are led by 2023-24 1st Team All-Conference selection Ashlyn Diemert who is averaging 13.3 points per game. True freshman Abby Aslesen totals 12.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, and junior transfer Tilda Mauritzson contributes 8.9 points per game. Ellie Braaten leads the Viking women with 28 assists and 21 steals overall.

VCSU’s men are tied for the conference lead with an 8-3 record in non-conference play. Bellevue has a 6-4 overall record and Dakota State is 7-4 on the season.

VCSU’s men are led by Lamar Grayson who averages 17.7 points per game and Tyrel Creger who posts 13.1 points per game. Jayden Patcha is leading VCSU’s rebounding effort with 46 total rebounds and 4.2 rebounds per game, while Odier Olange totals 45 rebounds and 4.1 per game. Shaheed Muhammad leads VCSU with 29 steals on the season.
