MILES CITY, Mont.— Jayden Wiest connected on 6-of-8 three-point attempts, finishing with 18 points to help lead the No. 24 University of Jamestown women’s basketball team to a 76-54 win Saturday afternoon over University of Montana Western at Kailey Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

·       Backed by 55 percent overall shooting and getting into bonus foul shots early on, Jamestown took a 20-10 lead after the first quarter.

·       The Jimmies cooled off to start the second, missing their first six three-point attempts and going scoreless for the first 3:55 of the quarter.

·       Wiest ended the scoring and shooting drought, draining her first three to make it 23-15. She would make her next two attempts from long distance as the Jimmies opened up a 16-point lead.

·       Kate Cordes finished the quarter with back-to-back threes as the lead grew to 20 going into halftime.

·       The Bulldogs outscored UJ 19-18 in the third quarter, but Jamestown responded with 60 percent shooting on three-pointers and 50 percent overall in the fourth quarter to finish with a 22-point victory.

·       The Jimmies’ depth played a big role in the win, as Jamestown reserves outscored Montana Western’s 47-8.

·       Cordes was the other UJ player in double figures, finishing with 13 points. Twelve different players made their way into the scoring column, six of them with at least six points or more.

·       Megan Oswald had six rebounds to lead Jamestown, which finished with a 40-26 rebounding edge.

·       Cordes and Kate Busek each had three assists, and Busek recorded a pair of steals.
