UJ – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team was unable to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit in a 78-69 loss to Dakota Wesleyan University Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Corn Palace.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UJ took the early 2-0 lead after Cole Glasgow opened the scoring, but would play the rest of the half from behind after the Tigers scored to break a 4-4 tie.
- Anthony Walters made a three-pointer to get the Jimmies within 35-29 at the 3:46 mark, then DWU finished the half by scoring five of the last six points to lead 40-30 at the break.
- Jamestown continued to chip away at the Tigers’ lead in the early stages of the second half, and Owen Hektner’s three-pointer with 11:55 left made it 52-48.
- DWU then reeled off five straight points to nearly push their lead back to double digits, but UJ kept battling.
- Another Hektner three and a basket by Will Cordes again got the Jimmies within one possession (62-59).
- Twice inside of the final three minutes, Jamestown got as close as two points, but Cordes’ basket with 2:04 to play would be the final UJ points of the day. DWU closed on a 7-0 run for the nine-point victory.
- Hektner paced the Jimmies with 21 points and made 3 three-pointers.
- Walters ended with 14 points off the bench, and Silas Bennion was also in double figures with 10.
- Jimmy Llinas pulled down 9 rebounds to go along with 7 points and a pair of assists.

- Jamestown returns to conference action on Friday, January 3 at Valley City State (N.D.) with game time set for 7:30 p.m.
