Bellevue Neb – The #24 ranked University of Jamestown women’s basketball team defeated Bellevue University 76-71 Saturday afternoon at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center in Bellevue, Neb.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jimmies started off on a slow start allowing the Bruins to go on a 7-0 run to fall behind quickly
- The Jimmies finished the first quarter behind 21-12
- In the second quarter the Jimmies picked it up going on a 7-0 run and coming within two points by a layup by Jessika Lofstrom with 8:35 remaining
- The Jimmies and Bruins traded baskets but it was a 5-0 run at end the second by the Jimmies that left them trailing by four 35-31 to go into halftime
- The Bruins started the third quarter by going on a 5-0 run and gaining a nine point lead over the Jimmies
- The Jimmies responded by going on their own 11-0 run led by two three pointers from Jayden Wiest and another from Jessika Lofstrom that gave the Jimmies their first lead of the game 47-46 with 3:37 left in the quarter
- The Jimmies went of a 6-0 scoring run to begin the fourth quarter and with a Kate Cordes fast break layup were able to tie the game 57-57 with 6:53 remaining
- The Jimmies and the Bruins again traded baskets and leads but it was the three pointers by Kate Cordes and Kate Busek at a 1:58 that solidified the victory
- Jessika Lofstrom led Jamestown with 19 points followed by Kate Cordes with 15 points and Jailyn Martinson with 11 points
- Kate Busek led the Jimmies with 10 rebounds and seven assists
- Samantha Paulsen recorded two steals
