Shaun James Salberg was born November 28, 1984, to Ken and Suzy (Busche) Salberg in Valley City, ND. Shaun grew up and attended school in Valley City. As a young child he joined the youth bowling league and excelled, taking home many awards over the years during which he was involved. He played football in junior high and high school until he was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at age 16. Shaun graduated from VCHS in 2002.
After high school Shaun attended NDSCS in Wahpeton for a short time where he worked at McDonalds. He later moved to Fargo where he worked at Target, US Bank and Toys R Us. In 2007 he married Jennaca Killoran. They made their home in Fargo and later Valley City. In 2010 Shaun and Jen welcomed their first child, Kennedy, and in 2013, welcomed Benjamin, into their family. Shaun and Jen later divorced. Throughout his life Shaun held many different jobs including Marketplace Foods, Pizza Corner, Burger King, and Arby’s, McDonalds…. Do you see a theme? Shaun loved to eat. When he felt good, he would plan his medical appointments to Fargo around where he planned to stop and eat along the way. Many times as he was eating lunch he was planning what/when supper would be. Shaun was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and enjoyed watching football. One of his favorite memories was when his grandpa Jim took him to a Vikings/ Packers game in Minneapolis. Shaun enjoyed hunting and fishing. What he enjoyed the most was going, doing, exploring and then telling people about it. Shaun had a quirky personality. He was often telling silly ‘dad’ jokes, quoting sports statistics or coughing up some random facts. And he was a true believer of Sasquatch!
Shaun is survived by his parents, Ken Salberg, Jay and Suzy Heise; his brothers, Justin (Keri) of Duluth, MN, and Jordan of Fargo, ND; his children, Kennedy and Benjamin; his grandmother, Margaret Heise; his two nieces, Olivia and Alice; several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his good friend, Amanda Rowh.
