GOODYEAR, Ariz. – North Dakota State men’s golf closed out the Loyola Intercollegiate on Tuesday, climbing three spots to finish in the middle of the 19-team field at even par, finishing ninth overall.
 
For the second-straight day, Ian Simonich led the Bison, as he carded a -4 round of 68 to climb the leaderboard and finish 10th overall at -6 for the tournament. Following back-to-back rounds of 71, Simonich reeled off seven birdies, including five in a row to shoot up the leaderboard in the third and final round.
 
Jake Skarperud also shot under par for the Bison on the final day, as he finished with his best round of the tournament with a -2 round of 70. Skarperud had five birdies in the round, as he climbed 21 spots to finish in 64th at +5 for the event.
 
Rylin Petry finished second overall for the Bison in the spring opener, as he took 41st overall in the 116-golfer field. Petry moved up one spot on Tuesday with an even par round of 72. He carded three birdies on his opening nine holes and added one on the back nine, but scored a double bogey on the final hole to fall from -1 to +1 for the event.
 
Sean Moore closed the scoring for NDSU on the day, firing a +1 round of 73. Moore had three birdies and moved up five spots to finish in 69th at +6. Josh Galvin shot a 75 in the final round and dropped to +5 for the weekend, matching Skarperud in a tie for 64thMax Wilson, playing as an individual, shot even par on the final day, recording an eagle and three birdies, as he finished in 54th at +3.
 
The Bison will have two weeks off before returning to action at the Bandon Dunes Championships, March 9-11. The event, hosted by Idaho, will be held at Bandon Trails in Bandon, Oregon.
