Seth Dunlap KSJB – Those in Jamestown may be seeing new fees assessed if you don’t replace your water meters.
The city’s Finance and Legal Committee says the replacement project that began in 2024 is far from complete. The Jamestown City Council unanimously approved sending another round of non-compliance notices to residents, but the Finance & Legal Committee says they recommend adding the fees to “get people’s attention.”
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich says he supports any efforts to combat non-compliance, saying he hopes it doesn’t come to shutting people’s water off but, Heinrich says, nothing is off the table. About 81-percent of the replacement project is complete.
The City Code allows city-authorized personnel to enter properties to turn off the water inside or outside of any building in the city for any cause or purpose the city deems necessary.
