At approximately 2:30 AM on February 28, the driver of a 2000 Kenworth Truck (72 year old male from Brainerd MN) was driving northbound, entering I-29 and was struck from behind by a cattle hauler driven by a 66 year old man from Forrest MB Canada. The Kenworth came to rest on the shoulder of the road and the cattle hauler came to rest in the right lane. The driver of the cattle hauler was able to exit the truck prior to it catching fire and becoming engulfed. The driver of the cattle hauler incurred minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Sanford. They were both wearing their seat belts. Northbound traffic was blocked until 6:18 AM. The crash is under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
