SIOUX FALLS – The Jimmie baseball team scored 19 runs on 21 hits in Sunday’s second game against Mayville State (N.D.) University and split a doubleheader against the Comets at Sanford Sports Complex.

GAME ONE
- The Comets scored single runs in both the first and second innings to take a 2-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Jimmies got on the board, thanks to an RBI double by Ryan Muizelaar.
- Mayville State extended their lead to 5-1 with three runs in the top of the sixth.
- Pinch-hitter Will Bachman drove in a pair of runs with a double in the bottom of the sixth as Jamestown got within 5-3.
- Neither team scored in the final inning as the Comets took game one 5-3.
- In addition to the doubles by Muizelaar and Bachman, Chase Burke, Alex Alva, and Landon Runge each had a hit.
GAME TWO
- Triston Madison singled home two runs and later scored on a wild pitch as UJ took a 3-0 lead after the first.
- After the Comets cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the second, the Jimmies responded with nine runs in the bottom half to break the game open.
- The lead grew to 17-1 as Jamestown scored five more in the third, then added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
- Mayville State scored six of their seven runs and had six of their eight hits in the game in the fifth inning, but got no closer than 18-7.
- Madison doubled twice and finished 4-for-5 with four RBI and four runs scored, while Ryan Muizelaar was 4-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored.
- Chase Burke homered and added two more hits while scoring three runs and driving in three more.
- Alex Alva also recorded three hits, including a triple.
- Isaiah Roebuck, Landon Runge, and Riki Okamoto all had two hits.
- Luke Zimmer improved to 4-3 overall after working five innings and striking out four.
UP NEXT
- The Jimmies and Comets will meet again in Sioux Falls in a doubleheader on Monday with first pitch set for 2 p.m.
