On April 14, 2025 at 12:58 pm a 2025 Toyota Camry driven by a 44 year old male of Mandan, ND was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I94 at mile marker 278 near Eckelson, when it struck the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse driven by a 74 year old male of Bismarck, ND head-on.

The Toyota came to final rest in the median, the Chevrolet came to final rest in the westbound driving lanes. The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the Chevrolet sustained serious, non-life-threatening injury and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City and then to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
