Orville Larry Suko, died on April 9, 2025 in Gilbert, AZ at the age of 82.
Larry was born on July 4, 1942 in Jamestown, ND, the son of Tavalt & Elsie Suko. He grew up on the family farm near Windsor, ND in Moonlake Township. Larry graduated from Jamestown High School in 1960 and moved to southern California. He earned a degree in Industrial Arts from Los Angeles Valley College in 1967 and became an apprentice Tool & Die Maker. Larry was drafted into the Army in 1967 and was stationed in Fort Shafter, Hawaii as a Military Policeman. During his time in Hawaii, he met the love of his life, Sonja Webster. Larry & Sonja were married in 1969 and made their home in Northridge, CA. In 1975, they moved to Jamestown where Larry worked for the Goodrich Corporation as a Tool & Die Maker until his retirement in 2005.
Larry will be remembered as a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He enjoyed designing and creating things through metal fabrication, related to his career. Larry took pride in quality craftsmanship, hard work, and a dedication to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sonja, of Queen Creek, AZ, daughter Andrea (Mark) Ciarrocchi of West Chester, PA, son Jeffrey (Nichole) Suko of Queen Creek, AZ, granddaughters Elena Ciarrocchi, Jessica Ciarrocchi, and Chloe Suko, grandson Cruz Suko, sister Carol (Tom) Carli of Brooklyn Park, MN, and sister-in-law Kay Suko of Brookfield, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Calvin Suko and Arnnie Suko.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025, at St. James Basilica in Jamestown. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
