David Gideon Kienzle, 75, passed away on April 15, 2025 at the VA Hospital in Fargo ND surrounded by his family.
Dave was born on January 13th, 1950 to Gideon and Edna (Tesky) Kienzle in Jamestown ND. He grew up and lived most of his life on the family farm near Streeter ND. He graduated from Streeter High school in 1968 and enlisted in the US Army shortly after.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Dave served in the 121st Sig Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972. After returning from Vietnam, Dave roamed around to different professions while helping out on the family farm near Streeter, ND.
On February 18th 1977, Dave married Linda Ackerman, and they moved to the family farm full-time where they raised 4 children: Michelle Samek (Spiritwood Lake, ND), Christina Meierhofer (Hanover, MN), Jamie Bitker (Buffalo, ND) and Billy Kienzle (Gackle, ND). While farming, Dave also worked for Miller Honey Farm in Gackle, ND from the mid 1980’s to 1999. In 1999, he took a job as a heavy equipment operator working for Logan County until 2019 when he retired.
Dave was known for his quick-witted humor, stubbornness, and his sweet, quiet demeanor. He would always lend a hand to anyone who needed one. He enjoyed taking his kids fishing, muskrat trapping, shooting gophers and watching them play sports. He loved taking care of his cows even though some days he claimed, “they were stupid and didn’t do what he wanted’. He was also an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan and would listen to every game he could on the radio while working on the farm.
