(Jamestown, ND) On 04/26/2025 at approximately 0921 hours, the Jamestown Police Department was dispatched to the 1500 block of 4th St NW to investigate a single vehicle rollover crash involving a 2007 Freightliner fuel truck. The fuel truck was driven by a 73-year-old Jamestown man. The driver was able to exit the vehicle with minor injuries.

Upon investigation, it was determined the driver of the fuel truck had been traveling east on 4th St NW and was approaching another truck traveling west on 4th St NW. The fuel truck moved towards the shoulder to create space for the trucks to pass each other. The tires of the fuel truck went off the roadway and onto the shoulder.  The driver was unable to steer the truck back onto the roadway and the soft shoulder caused the truck to be pulled off the roadway further. There was a steep embankment which caused the fuel truck to roll multiple times coming to rest on its driver’s side.

The fuel truck was not fully loaded, but was transporting approximately 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel, which was leaking from an overflow valve on the top of the tank. The amount of fuel leaked has not been determined at this time.

Due to the emergency response, investigation and recovery of the truck, 4th St NW was closed for approximately 3 hours and traffic was rerouted.

The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office, Stutsman County Emergency Management, Jamestown Fire Department, Jamestown Area Ambulance, Jamestown Street Department and Gordon’s Interstate Towing and Recovery.

This incident remains under investigation.
