Nedina Denning, 95, of Gackle, ND, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 10, 2025 at SMP Health – Ave Maria, Jamestown.

Nedina Irene (Krause) Denning was born at Lehr, ND on May 3, 1930, the daughter of Henry & Elizabeth (Pheifle) Krause. Nedina went to Lowenthal grade school and graduated from Lehr High School in 1948 as Valedictorian of her class. During her High School years, she worked at the local café. After graduation she taught at the country school for 3 years and worked at the café in the summer months. After 3 years of teaching, she started working at the local hardware store until she got married to Wilbert Denning after his discharge from the Army. They were married on February 6, 1955. They rented a farm until they bought the home place. They sold the farm and built a new home for them in Gackle in 1979 and moved to Gackle in 1980 where Wilbert did construction work. Nedina had a ceramic shop in the basement of their home. Nedina worked for several years at the Gackle Care Center as a cook and Gackle Library as the Librarian. She loved doing story hour with the kids. Nedina was a member of the Lehr Auxiliary and Gackle American Legion Auxiliary. She received a pin for 60 years of membership March 2025. – She enjoyed helping the ladies of ELCW make quilts.

Nedina loved to read, cook, bake goodies, and do hand work. She embroidered for each grandchild a memory item. She tried to do Gods will as he said, Love thy neighbor as thyself. She said so many times God is Good, and I am so Blessed. Yes – her faith was strong, and it lives in all of us her family.

They were blessed with 4 sons and 3 wonderful caring daughters-in-law, David (passed away April 27, 2016), Dean (Michele) of San Tan Valley, AZ, Danny (Bonnie) of Gackle, Donavon (Jackie) of Fargo. She was Grandmother to 7 loving, caring grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She also has a surviving brother, Harvey of Clay Center, Kansas.

Nedina was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers – Berthold, Ray, John, Otto, Lawrence, Clarence, and Melvin; 2 sisters – Adelia and Laura; and grandson – Jay Denning.

Memorial Service – 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Gackle, ND.

Burial – North Dakota Veteran Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
