Andrew Kudrna, 95, of Jamestown, ND, died Wednesday morning, July 16, 2025, at Eventide Care Center, Jamestown, ND.

Andrew was born December 3, 1929, to Steven and Molly (Kadrmas) Kudrna, in a sod house on the family farm between New Hradec and South Heart, ND. Andrew attended a one room schoolhouse in New Hradec, ND until the 8th grade. Up until the second grade he spoke only Bohemian. He attended Model High School in Dickinson, ND. Andrew attended Dickinson State College prior to joining the United States Air Force on January 10, 1951, to January 9, 1955, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant as a Dental Laboratory Technician and was based in Japan during the Korean conflict. He met Virginia (Jackson) while stationed at Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake, WA. While in the Air Force, they worked as Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, and Dental Laboratory Technicians. They were united in marriage at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Oswego, NY on March 22, 1952. They began their family while stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. Upon Andrew’s discharge in 1955, they moved to Jamestown where Andrew worked for Jamestown Dental Laboratory. They purchased the business in 1957 and operated it until retirement.

He was a member of the ND Dental Laboratory Association for over 50 years and held numerous offices in the organization. He was awarded the ND Dental Foundation’s Meritorious Service Award for his contributions to dentistry. Andrew was involved in many service organizations over the decades and held various offices for St. John’s Academy, Basilica of St. James Catholic Church, Kiwanis, 40&8, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 14. As Commander of the American Legion, he escorted the American Legion Post 14 baseball team to the national tournament in IA. He loved music and could play the piano, violin, accordion and bugle. He was in the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp, traveling across the state. In the 1960’s the Corp was invited to Washington, DC to perform. Andrew enjoyed sports, participating in the Jamestown Archery club and bowling league. He loved woodworking, carving and turning and sold his art at the Kirkpatrick gallery in the Jamestown Frontier Village.

Andrew is survived by his children; daughter Deborah (Don) Myaer and granddaughter Kelly (Jared) Steinbrecher, and great-grandchildren Kaeden, Mackenzie, Delaney, Sydney and Weston, granddaughter Bridget Britton, great-grandchildren Brenna, Hunter and Ryland; son, Steven (Linda Harstad) Kudrna; daughter Charlene (Richard) Klose, granddaughter Madison (Matthew) Cossel, great-granddaughter Olivia, granddaughter Kendall (Andy Aho) LeMay, great-granddaughter Virginia; son, Michael (Julie) Kudrna, grandson Garrett (Rachel Cox), great-children Roman and Noel, granddaughter, Emily Kudrna, granddaughter Alexa (Chris) Ulschmid, granddaughter Allison Kudrna, sister Verna Chorne and brother Glenn Kudrna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don (Betty) Kudrna, Eddie (Martha) Kudrna, sister Evelyn (Ben) Volesky.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2025, at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Rosary with Vigil to follow: 6:30 pm, Monday, July 21, 2025, at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Interment: 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
