STUTSMAN COUNTY (Valley News Live) – A high-speed chase in Stutsman county led to the arrest of a Jamestown man who now faces multiple criminal charges.

According to court documents obtained by Valley News Live, a Stutsman County Sheriff’s Deputy was attempted to serve papers in Jamestown when he noticed a car being driven by Kyle Wegleitner, who the deputy knew had a suspended license. The deputy turned his patrol vehicle around and began to follow Wegleitner, who began to drive away at a high rate of speed.

The deputy says he was following Wegleitner on Business Loop East in Jamestown when he activated his lights and sirens, with Wegleitner reaching speeds over 80 MPH.

Wegleitner allegedly continued to speed away, with the vehicles hitting speeds of 106 MPH on 38th Street East. That’s when the deputy says that Wegleitner attempted to brake check him, something he allegedly attempted to do multiple times during this pursuit.

As the chase continued, the deputy says that Wegleitner stopped the car on 84th Avenue SE and stepped out to look back at the deputy. When the deputy drew his gun and aimed it at Wegleitner through the windshield, Wegleitner got back in the car and drove off again.

Wegleitner once again came to a stop near 82nd Avenue SE and stared at the deputy through his rearview mirror. Court documents say that’s when he put his car into reverse and smashed into the front of end of the patrol car before driving away again.

Wegleitner turned into a ditch and turned into a corn field, but got stuck in the mud when he returned to the road heading north on 82nd Avenue. Another deputy met Wegleitner there and held him at gunpoint until they could handcuff him. Officials say they found a large bundle of cash worth $2,322 in his pockets, along with a small baggy with a white powdery substance and another baggy with an unknown substance in it.

Court documents later confirm that they found four tabs of LSD in their search.

Wegleitner is being charged with Reckless Endangerment, Fleeing a police officer, two counts of criminal mischief, and two counts of prohibited acts/controlled substances, along with a misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended license.

A jury trial has been set for November 25.
