Valley City – The Sheyenne Valley Memory Café invites community members to its upcoming gathering on Thursday, August 28, 2025, featuring a presentation on “Driving Safety for Seniors” by Joy Tandberg, Occupational Therapist and Driver Rehabilitation Specialist with Dak-Minn Driving and Home Evaluations, LLC.
Driving is a complex task that depends on strength, motion, vision, cognition, and coordination—all of which can change with age. Tandberg will share insights on the physical and cognitive demands of safe driving, how families can spot concerns, and options for assessments that help older adults continue driving safely or transition when necessary.
“This is a chance to learn about senior driving safety in a supportive space,” said Nicole Klefstad Johnson, Sheyenne Valley Memory Café Coordinator. “It’s a topic many families face, and we’re excited to have Joy share her expertise.”
Doors open for the Memory Café at 1:00 PM, followed by the program at 1:30 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 309 4th Street NE, Valley City.
