Linda Anne Hirsch was born to Archie and Nelda (Fonder) Hirsch in Valley City, ND on February 17, 1949. She was met at home by her older brother Jerry. Linda grew up in Valley City where she attended and graduated from St. Catherine’s School. She later went on to Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. While in Fargo Linda met the love of her life, William (Bill) Kaber. Bill and Linda were married July 10, 1971, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.
Linda and Bill would go on to have the next two loves of her life, Troy William, in 1973, and Tina Marie, in 1979. They lived in Fargo until 1986 when they moved to Valley City to work for Linda’s parent’s at Valley Hide and Fur, Co. Bill and Linda would later go on to own the business.
Linda became the mom to lots of kids over the years and they all loved her and she them. They remember her as being strict but fair. “The greatest hockey mom of all time!” They enjoyed her famous ham sandwiches she made during hunting and racing seasons. Mitchy said, “she had a smile and laugh you’ll never forget”. Linda loved to cheer on her kids and grandkids in any sports or activities that they participated in. Which included; dirt track racing, hockey, cheerleading, volleyball, wrestling, football, and archery. She was the best and LOUDEST cheerleader!
Linda and Bill enjoyed spending time together going on drives. They bowled on a league for many years, they had fun snowmobiling, four-wheeling and going on side by side rides. They also enjoyed spending time camping and fishing. Linda loved nice cars and pickups. Especially shiny red or blue ones. She and Bill were lucky enough to own a few over the years. Her red Monte Carlo was a prized possession of hers. Linda enjoyed working in her flower beds all afternoon with her radio on and her dog, Daytona by her side. Linda absolutely loved Christmas and gift giving. Often going overboard but, she always wanted to make it special for her kids and grandkids. Linda worked numerous jobs over the years including; Silverline Boats, Case IH, ITS, cafeteria worker at VCHS, Bridgeview Estates. But, her favorite job was probably being a childcare provider. She cared for many children over the years. Linda loved kids and they made her light up.
Left to miss her until they meet again are her loving husband, William (Bill) Kaber, her son, Troy (Katie) Kaber and their children; Noah James Kaber, Paige Kaber, Kaylee Smith, Kaycee Smith, a great-grandson, Rhyatt. Her daughter, Tina (Paul) Drabus and their children McKenzie Current, Kaci Anne Current, and Kristen Drabus, and a bonus son Mitch Charntetzki.
Family friend, Michelle VanHal and her children Cael and Kai VanHal – Deitz.
Waiting to greet her in Heaven with loving arms were her parents, Archie and Nelda, and brother Jerry, along with numerous family and friends that passed before her. The family would like to thank the staff at SMP Health-St. Raphael, Mercy Hospital, and Dr. Misty Anderson for the care they provided Linda over the past few years.
Please say a prayer for all of those and their families suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
