NDHP – On Thursday, October 9 at approximately 10:59 AM, a John Deere combine driven by a 33-year-old male of Colgate, ND was traveling south on 133rd Ave SE. A BNSF train was traveling westbound. The combine collided with the front locomotive. The collision caused approximately 20 train cars to derail and send cargo into field areas along the railroad tracks. The driver of the combine died on scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The conductor and engineer were not injured. 133rd Ave Southeast will be closed north and south of the tracks for 34-48 hours. The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
