fedshutdownFARGO, N.D. (AP Oct 14, 2013) – About 25 people stood in the rain in downtown Fargo to protest the federal government shutdown that’s entering its 14th day.

The group that calls themselves “Fargo Progressives” gathered on a street corner around the noon hour Monday. They carried signs that read “Don’t Cut My Social Security” and “No Tax Breaks For Outsourcing.”

Twenty-three-year-old North Dakota State University student Lauren Trefethren (TREF’-ah-thrin) spoke out against Kevin Cramer, North Dakota’s lone representative to the U.S. House of Representatives. She carried a poster that said, “Cramer, Go Furlough Yourself.”

Trefethren says she wanted to “tell Cramer just how mad we are.”

A spokesman for Cramer did not immediately respond to an email request for comment and his telephone mailbox was full and not accepting messages.
