Grand Forks ND (University of North Dakota) – The North Dakota men’s basketball team set a new single game program record on Tuesday night in a 128-58 victory over Mayfield State from Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. UND improves to 1-3 on the season, while Mayville State falls to 4-2 on the year.
UND got after the Comets from the jump, going up 14-0 in the first 4:25 of the game and 25-4 in the first 7:35 of the half.
The Hawks led by as many as 73 in the win, having five guys score in double figures, with Micah Curtis (22), Marley Curtis (19) and Garrett Anderson (19) leading the way, combining for 60 points on the night.
Micah had 22 points on 10-for-12 shooting, six rebounds and five blocks in just 18 minutes of action. Marley had 19 on 7-of-12 from the field, eight rebounds and five steals, while Anderson recorded 19 points on 7-of-14 from the field and 5-of-9 from three, along with six rebounds and three steals. Zach Kraft (13) and Greyson Uelmen (14) rounded out the guys in double-digits.
UND recorded 21 steals and forced 24 Mayville turnovers, turning that into 43 points off turnovers. Nine different players recorded at least one steal in Marley Curtis (5), Kraft (3), Anderson (3), Eli King (3), Uelmen (2), Reggie Thomas (2), George Natsvlishvili (1), Anthony Smith lll (1) and Josh Jones (1).
The Hawks shot 48-for-80 overall, 14-for-27 from deep and 18-for-19 from the charity stripe. UND had 68 points in the paint.
North Dakota led 58-28 at halftime and opened things up completely in the second half, going on a 31-0 scoring run from the 18:22 mark to the 10:46 point (7:36 of gametime) to corral a 94-33 lead.
NoDak hit the 100-point mark with 6:57 remaining and broke the all-time single-game points record with 2:01 left in the game, via a Marley Curtis put back layup. This gave UND a 121-53 lead, in route to a 128-58 victory.
