Forest City IA (University of Jamestown) – The University of Jamestown women’s wrestling team had a strong showing at the Waldorf Open on Saturday, led by an individual title from Emily Novak at 180 pounds and three total place winners.

Novak was dominant en route to her first collegiate top finish. She recorded five victories on the day, including four technical falls and one pin. Novak outscored her opponents 48-1 and was leading 4-0 when she pinned Alexa Karch at the 43 second mark in the championship match.

Her victories included:

  • 13-0 TF (1:52) over Madilyn Schuck of Minot State
  • 11-0 TF (3:19) over Ellyannah Clinton of York University
  • 12-1 TF (4:07) over Mahalia Adams of Iowa Central Community College
  • 12-0 TF (3:26) over Izzy Strickert of Wartburg College
  • Pin (0:43) over Alexa Karch of Iowa Central Community College

Ann Meiman battled to a fourth-place finish at 145 pounds. She racked up five wins during the tournament, showcasing multiple ways to score. Her wins included a 6-0 decision, an 11-0 technical fall, and three pins.

Leah Willard also reached the podium, securing a fifth-place finish at 160 pounds. Willard earned three victories, with two coming by fall (one in just 47 seconds) and one by a 5-4 decision.

Two other Jimmies found the win column. Nora Houglum (131) went 2-2, picking up a 12-1 tech fall over Southeast Community College’s Ashton Hofeling and a 14-8 decision over Mackenzie Armagost of Sioux Falls; and Kiera Hagman (124) earned a victory with a pin of Midland’s Alexis Oliver in 1:18.
