Kathleen Rae Pfeifer, age 59, of Moorhead, MN died with family by her side on November 30th, 2025, due to complications of adult-onset muscular dystrophy.

Kathleen, also known as Kathy, Kath or Kat, was born October 23, 1966, and was adopted by Glenn and DeLoris Pfeifer as a newborn. She grew up in Buffalo, ND and graduated from Maple Valley High School. From a young age, Kathy often had a comb in her hand and loved a good hair day. She went on to complete a cosmetology program, allowing her to realize her passion for all things glamor. From serving as the personal, in-house hair stylist for her niece to shopping with friends, Kathy never passed up an opportunity to make those around her feel confident and beautiful.

In 1986, Kathy married Boyd Anderson, and they had one son, Blake Anderson. Kathy beamed with pride when talking about her son Blake. When Blake and Laura married, Kathy was so delighted to have gained a daughter. When Blake and Laura welcomed their daughter, Brianna, Kathy was ecstatic to become a grandmother. Brianna was the light of her life.

Kathy loved spending time with family and friends. She had an incredible ability to remember the details of lives around her, making them feel seen and heard. She never missed a birthday and would follow up on something mentioned in a conversation months ago, just to know the outcome. She loved the color purple. From her hair highlights to her stationary, when given the choice, she opted for the purple. Kathy had a special way of taking great joy in the simple things in life like playing with Brianna, sharing a good meal with loved ones or watching her favorite TV shows. Her love of the little things in life served as a beautiful reminder to those around her to slow down and appreciate the present moment. Kathy was thrilled to connect with her biological siblings GJ, Katie, and Bill shortly before her passing.

During the last several years of her life, Kathy faced so many challenges related to the progression of her muscular dystrophy. The family would like to send a special thank you to HIA Hospice, Connections, Clay County Family Service Center, and Kathy’s many healthcare providers for delivering wonderful care and support to Kathy and her family.

Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents Glenn and DeLoris Pfeifer and her husband Boyd Anderson.

Kathy is survived by her son Blake (Laura) Anderson; her granddaughter Brianna Anderson; her sister Barbara (Patrick) Voigtman; her niece Rachel (David) Rutkowski and grandnephew Simeon Rutkowski.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be at Oliver Nathan Funeral Home in Valley City, ND on Thursday December 4th, 2025 with visitation at 1:00 pm and service at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Kathy has asked that donations be made to HIA Hospice https://www.hiahealth.org/give/ or the Muscular Dystrophy Association https://mda.donordrive.com
