Audrey Diane Peterson was born October 20, 1960, in Lisbon, ND the daughter of Dale and Ruth (Torgerson) Peterson. She grew up near Litchville, ND and was a member of the Litchville High School class of 1978. After graduating, she went on to pursue a business and accounting degree at Valley City State University. She worked for the Valley City Times Record, at Drug Plastics, and at the Clancy Greenhouse.
July 22, 1988, she married Lloyd Wieland. Together they made their home on a farm near Dazey, ND. Each day started with a cup of coffee. Audrey spent her days on the farm loving being outdoors with her flower and vegetable gardens. Audrey’s specialty was bottle feeding and taking care of the sick baby calves. She loved dogs, cats, and other wildlife that wandered into the yard. She fed the birds and enjoyed watching them and kept a journal of all the ones she identified. Some birds would actually eat out of the palm of her hand. She loved all the animals and birds, and they loved her back. Photography was a hobby where she could capture the beauty of nature, flowers, animals, and birds. She took many amazing pictures.
Lloyd and Audrey worked together side by side on the farm. Audrey was in charge of raking the hay, doing the digging and driving the combine during harvest. Audrey may have been Lloyd’s right hand, but she was always willing to help anyone.
When she wasn’t enjoying farm life, she was probably doing something crafty. She had creative ideas and enjoyed decorating the outside of the church for their fall supper. Audrey was a planner and always knew what needed to be done and helped get it done.
She was a member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was active with the altar society. For many years, she was the church’s bookkeeper and was a past Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; mother, Ruth Peterson; brother, Michael Peterson; sisters, Gail (Craig) Rufsvold and Mona (Tim) McGregor; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her extended Wieland family and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her father, Dale.
A suggestion that donations be made to the Crazy Horse Monument or a local animal shelter in Audrey’s name as those were two of her favorite charities.
