Minneapolis MN (UJ) – The tenth-ranked University of Jamestown ACHA Division 1 women’s hockey team delivered a commanding offensive performance in a weekend series sweep against the University of Minnesota at Ridder Arena.

The Jimmies peppered the opposing net with 76 shots in a 9-3 win on Friday, then put 62 more shots on goal in a 7-1 win on Saturday.

Friday evening, UJ wasted no time establishing control, finding the back of the net just 11 seconds into the contest. Reese Amick opened the scoring with a quick strike, assisted by Kelsey Amick, setting the tone for a dominant first period. Kelsey Amick doubled the lead five minutes later before Bethany Wielgosh took over the latter half of the frame. Wielgosh scored twice in a span of three minutes—netting her second at the 16:54 mark—to send Jamestown into the first intermission with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Minnesota goaltender Timberlyn Mazeikis was kept under siege for a full 60 minutes, recording an impressive 67 saves despite the loss. On the other end of the ice, Jimmies goaltender Maddie Sylvestre secured the win, stopping 13 of the 16 shots she faced.

Jamestown continued to apply pressure in the second period, adding three more goals to their tally. Emma Durand struck early in the period with an insurance goal, followed by tallies from Bekah Nickisch and a shorthanded effort from Maddison Andrew.

While the Gophers managed to find some offensive rhythm in the third period with goals from Jillian Mlodozyniec and Kate Hill, the deficit was too large to overcome. The Jimmies responded with goals from Samantha Beaulac and Jayden Baker to cap off the scoring and seal the 9-3 victory.

Eleven different players recorded at least one point, with Wielgosh adding an assist to her two-goal tally for a three-point game. Mackenzie Couling assisted on two goals, while Andrew, Durand, and Kelsey Amick each had a goal and an assist.

On Saturday, Jamestown wasted little time getting on the board. Just 52 seconds into the first period, Mikaela Nimetz scored an unassisted goal to give the Jimmies a quick 1-0 lead.
