Joseph Schumacher, 80, Pettibone, ND passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at SMP Health-Ave Maria, Jamestown, ND.
Joe Schumacher was born September 28, 1945 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota to Frank Sr. and Catherine Schumacher. He attended school at Chase Lake, ND. On December 21, 1966 he married Sonja Flemmer at Pettibone, ND. They made their first home in Wimbledon, ND, later they returned to Pettibone and purchased the Flemmer family farm. Joe and his sons ran the farm until 1986.
Joe moved to Jamestown in 1986 and began a career as a ready-mix driver for Lindberg Brothers until he retired, at which time he purchased a home in Pettibone where he lived until 2025.
Joe’s passions were family, fishing, hunting, playing pool and farming. He also enjoyed restoring tractors, pinochle, dancing, friends and socializing at the local pub where he was always the life of the party.
He is survived by his three sons, Shawn Schumacher, Brad (Stacy) Schumacher, Mark (Jen) Schumacher; one daughter, Nicole Schumacher (John Corell); seven grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Amanda, Kasey, Devin, J.J. and Lacey; six great grandchildren; seven siblings Laura (Gerald) Stern, Johanna Kvigne, Emanuel (Cookie) Schumacher, Kathy (Joel) Devillers, Jane Mueller (Al Stoltz), Francis (Shelley) Schumacher and Donna Handt (Dean Wick). Joe was preceded in death by the mother of his children Sonja Schumacher, one grandson Cruz Schumacher, one daughter-in-law Kathy Schumacher and eight siblings, James Schumacher, Annie Gwynn, Doris Mack, Edward Schumacher, Monica Schumacher, Mark Schumacher, Virginia Schumacher and Adeline Schumacher.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM, Monday, December 15, 2025 at Eddy Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Pettibone, ND with Pastor Robert Hill officiating. Interment will be in Petersville Cemetery.
