Mrs. Martha Jeske, 92, a long-time devoted food service professional in Jamestown, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, one day shy of her 93rd birthday. She died at SMP Health-St. Raphael, Valley City, ND. Born on January 15, 1933, she was the beloved daughter of Michael Wenzel, Sr. and Lydia (Nelson) Wenzel.

Throughout her life, Martha dedicated herself to the art of food preparation, bringing nourishment and comfort to many. She started as a car hop at the Valley Drive-In, later working as a nurse’s aide at Trinity Hospital. But she was best remembered for her 39 years in the kitchen at the Gladstone, where she made sandwiches and maintained the salad bar. She was known for her diligence, skill, and kind spirit in her chosen profession.

Martha was married to Mars Jeske in 1954. They divorced in 1958. To their union, one son, Jesse Jeske, of Jamestown was born. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Tania. She is remembered fondly by those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Michael, Jr. and James.

May her legacy of care and dedication endure in the hearts of those she touched.

Mass of Christian Burial for Martha will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 22, 2025, at the Basilica of St James, 622 First Ave S, Jamestown. Interment will follow at Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.
