Jamestown ND (Valley News Live) – A Jamestown man was arrested Tuesday evening after police say he waved what appeared to be a handgun inside a Jamestown grocery store, an incident that ended with a store employee and a bystander disarming him before officers arrived.

Jamestown Police officers were dispatched to the Cashwise grocery store at approximately 4:58 p.m. Tuesday after a report of a man waving a firearm inside the store and asking to speak with the manager. As officers responded, dispatchers learned the man had left the grocery store and walked into a neighboring liquor store.

Officers located the suspect at the liquor store. A store employee and a bystander had already disarmed him before officers arrived. The man was intoxicated and was immediately taken into custody. What initially appeared to be a handgun was later determined to be a BB gun.

The suspect was identified as Danyel Aaron Lund, 59, of Jamestown. He was arrested on suspicion of terrorizing and taken to the Stutsman County Correctional Center to await formal charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are possible. The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
