BISMARCK, N.D. (AP Oct 23, 2013) – Enrollment at the North Dakota University System’s 11 colleges and universities dropped by less than a percentage point from last fall.
The total headcount at the institutions is 48,015 this fall, compared to 48,203 in Fall 2012. That’s a decrease of 0.4 percent.
Graduate student enrollment increased by 6.7 percent and community college enrollment rose by 0.9 percent. University enrollment dropped 0.7 percent.
Interim Chancellor Larry Skogen says the stable enrollment numbers are good news for North Dakota because national enrollment numbers are trending downward as an improved economy is sending people go back to work.
He says the system has been able to keep the cost of education affordable.
