JRMClogoJamestown (CSi) —Marla Wegner, licensed practical nurse at Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC), recently attended the North Dakota Child Passenger Safety Conference in Bismarck. While at the conference she was awarded a Buckle Up Buddy certificate award for her contributions to JRMC and the community in car seat safety.

The award was presented to Wegner by ND First Lady, Betsy Dalrymple. Her role in educating parents on the correct installation and usage of child car seat restraints has helped reduce the injury and death percentages of infants and children occurring from misuse of car seats.

Wegner was nominated for the award because of her passion and dedication to assuring that young children in Jamestown are riding safely.

“Her soft-spoken way with parents, makes them listen and respect her,” said Emily Woodley, JRMC Family BirthPlace manager. “She does a great job making sure new parents are trained on how to use their car seats.”

She has been a Certified Child Passenger Restraint Technician for over eight years and assists at community car seat check-ups in Jamestown and Carrington. In addition to community car seat check-ups, she provides car seat training classes for new parents at JRMC.
