Sixty-two-year old Craig Cobb of Leith agreed to plead guilty to five misdemeanor charges and one felony terrorizing charge on Thursday in a deal that would have spared him further jail time.

Judge David Reich told attorneys he did not feel comfortable accepting the plea deal until a thorough psychological and background investigation was done.

Cobb has been in jail since Nov. 16. He is accused of using guns in mid-November to terrorize residents of Leith, the small community he unsuccessfully tried to turn into an all-white enclave

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) – A white supremacist who has pleaded not guilty to terrorizing residents of a small North Dakota town is scheduled to change his plea.

Court documents indicate 62-year-old Craig Cobb is scheduled for a change-of-plea hearing Thursday afternoon.

A judge on Feb. 10 gave attorneys in the case three weeks to try to work out a plea agreement. Details of that agreement aren’t immediately available.

Cobb is accused of using guns in mid-November to terrorize residents of Leith, the small community he unsuccessfully tried to turn into an all-white enclave. He was scheduled for a mid-July trial on six counts that carry a maximum total punishment of 30 years in prison.

Leith residents have said they want Cobb to see prison time, and not be released on probation.

Cobb is jailed for allegedly terrorizing residents of Leith with guns in mid-November. He’s pleaded not guilty. A judge’s three-week window for attorneys to work out a plea deal runs out Monday. Cobb won’t comment on whether he’ll accept a plea agreement with prison time – which is what Mayor Ryan Schock says Leith residents want.
